The Old Mill Hotel - Lymington

Attentive and efficient staff as one would expect.

Loved this boutique hotel, and we would stay here again. Everything was perfect, had a lovely stay for the first 3 nights out. Our accommodation was set in a riverside location near to attractive gardens, the restaurant, the river. Lots of food for breakfast, everything was splendid.

Couple looking for a cozy retreat

The area around the Old Mill is beautiful. The amazing ponds and streams create a perfect backdrop for relaxation. Dinner was good, the fire pit could've brought more warmth to the night, but at least they had blankets!

It wasn't exactly affordable though.

The open fire added warmth and charm to our dinner experience. The attention from the staff, particularly one waitress, turned an ordinary meal into a good experience.

The check-in process felt slightly disorganized.

The grounds feature quirky metal art installations that add a unique edge, though not everyone may appreciate their style. The beautiful double room I had was spacious, outfitted with modern bathroom fixtures that were still shiny and new.

Breakfast service started at 08:00 but took too long was good. While the restaurant had a solid breakfast buffet, my attempt at a cooked meal wasn't as quick-paced as I needed. The taxi situation in the area is a hassle. Relying on limited local firms can be frustrating, and the lack of rideshare options feels like a missed opportunity for convenience.

The welcome was super warm like, and amber was really nice. Our room was great, very cozy n decorated lovely. Also loved that they offered us different parking when the bridge was underwater. Breakfast and dinner were both really nice!

But the access bridge being flooded was kinda annoying. And the check-out should've been a bit later.

We enjoyed a serene stay by the mill stream, where my little one loved feeding the ducks. The beautiful outdoor seating area was perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring the New Forest. It really was like a family getaway!

In my wife's opinion, they should have clearer activities for families with children. While the setting is nice, having more planned kid-friendly activities would enhance the stay for families.

The converted water mill was fine, with beautiful gardens by the millstream and cozy bar areas to relax. Highlights included a Dyson air conditioner and a fantastic smart TV. Completely loved our dinner, particularly the expertly grilled tomahawk steak. It was a flavor bomb! Highly recommend tasting the elegant ambience in the gorgeous dining room.

A Nice Family Getaway with Room for Improvement

Our dinner was disrupted when our table was not available as promised. Make reservations well in advance to avoid disappointment!

The Old Mill provided a good stay with its beautifully renovated rooms, with a cozy atmosphere ideal for relaxation. The staff was genuinely friendly and provided excellent recommendations for local dining and walks. The breakfast was particularly excellent, with freshly baked pastries and locally sourced ingredients that set a positive tone for the day.

Some service delays were noticeable.

During our lovely stay, we enjoyed breakfast in the conservatory, where we watched the birds visit the feeders beside the millstream, and the nearby Roydon Woods Nature Reserve provided us with peaceful walking trails filled with beautiful scenery.

The room was fantastic, equipped with a dog bed and treats for our pet, highlighting the cute atmosphere. Breakfast stood out as one of the best I've had, made to order and served promptly. There was an unpleasant dog smell in room 9, which required attention, and the complementary wine offered due to that issue didn't fully compensate for the discomfort .

Had a fantastic two-night stay! The food was divine, especially the seafood linguine, and the serene gardens provided a perfect escape. Our room was lovely and well equipped.

Fine, fine, fine

I was blown away by the fine gardens that surrounded our cozy King Room, complete with picturesque hidden spots and adorable sculptures. Dinner was a highlight, especially the creatively prepared scallops that tasted like pure heaven! The whole atmosphere was so inviting.
